Obituary for Dennis D. "Porch" Cavanaugh

Elizabeth, North Carolina

Dennis Donald "Porch" Cavanaugh, 55, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, formerly of Menominee, Illinois, died suddenly Thursday, April 19, 2018, while working in Ohio. A scripture wake service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may call from 4:00 until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Dennis was born on May 15, 1962, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Loras "Peanuts" and Lumae (Droeszler) Cavanaugh. He graduated from Galena High School in 1982. Dennis married Dawn Duncan on April 18, 2015.

Dennis was a carpenter who worked for John Kuhl, Sam Lange, and most recently ACT Construction. He loved fishing and picking morels and asparagus. Dennis also enjoyed socializing with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn; his brothers, Tom (Sandy), of Dubuque, and Troy, of Elizabeth City, NC; a sister, JoAnn (Ron Lange) Cavanaugh, of Cuba City; a niece, Caressa (fiance, Ricky) Cavanaugh, of Switzerland; a nephew, David Wenglarz, of Minnesota; and his stepsons, Ricky and Kevin, of Fox Lake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loras "Peanuts" and Lumae, and his grandparents.
